This is a Georgia Park, Mistletoe State Park, located just a little north of Augusta Ga. Volunteered as a Maintenance Host here from January 1 – February 26 2013. Very nice time of the year to be in this part of Georgia, a little cool sometimes but we like it that way. This park has miles of walking/bicycling trails, a swimming beach by the lake, boat ramps, and picnic areas. We had a real good time at this park. The park is really great, well maintain, plenty of sites for the larger RVs. The park rangers and staff are very nice and helpful. The bathrooms were clean and have a lot of hot water. Fishing is allowed in the lake, caught some catfish, crappie, and white bass. A fishing license is required to fish Georgia waters. There are 92 water & electric sites. Some sites have 50 amp, but most are 30. Some sites pull-thru, some sites back in. We have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and fit in easy. Had water & electric at our site. Dump station available. They have gray water pits by each site where you can dump your gray water. GRAY WATER ONLY ! Direct TV, Verizon Cell & Internet worked great, but there are some sites deep in the trees. We camped for free because we volunteer our time around the park ( 24 hours per week ). You can purchase a Georgia Annual Park Pass if you visit Georgia State Parks a lot. For more information about Georgia State Parks here is the link Georgia State Parks . I like this campground, have been here a few times, and will continue to visit this park.
This is a Military FamCamp, US Military Campgrounds & RV Parks. Stayed here 60 days. Nov 1 – Dec 30 2012. This is our home base for now. We have a son and his family living near here, so we get to visit them while we take care of medical checkups, licenses and tag renewals. We also have some friends that we visit and get caught up on all that is going on. This is a Military FamCamp on the beach, with cabins, camping, picnic areas and of course fishing. You will have to get a North Carolina fishing license of course. You can surf fish the beach or fish the inter coastal waterway. The campground is located between them, all within walking distance. Now this is a very active military base, the sounds of freedom can be heard daily. So if your looking for a quite campground, you’ll have to look elsewhere. Not everyone can stay at a Military FamCamp, you must have a valid DoD/Active Duty Military ID Card or Retired DoD/Military ID Card. The campground had 33 full hookup sites. Cable TV and WIFI also provided. Sites are all back-in and are close together, but there is plenty of room for long stays. There is a covered picnic table at all sites. We have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and fit in. Had water, electric, sewer hookups, cable, & WIFI at our site. Direct TV, Verizon Cell & Internet worked great. They have a monthly discount during the winter months available. Paid $410.00 per month. Washers & dryers available. FamCamp is on base and is easy to get to, check in is at the campground. Commissary & Exchange close by, other shopping and dining out not to far of a drive. Has a small store right next to FamCamp. This is a military town, so there is a lot of shopping/dining available. Lots to see & do in Jacksonville, NC. They have a real good web site to get information from. Jacksonville, NC . I like this FamCamp. Will stay here again
